Arrival at Tbilisi International Airport. Meet and greet by company representatives. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight.
After breakfast explore Old Tbilisi with its famous healing Sulphur Baths, Sameba Cathedral – the biggest religious building in the Caucasus, old churches of Metekhi (VI c.) and Anchiskhati (VI c.), Blue Mosque of Tbilisi with its beautiful Persian-influenced façade, beautiful clock tower with mechanical puppet theatre inside with an angel ringing the bell every hour, narrow streets of Old Tbilisi with small colourful houses, cozy cafes, bars, and gift shops. You will take a ride on the aerial cable car to the ancient fortress of Narikala (IV c.) and enjoy magnificent views on Tbilisi.
Departure to Mtskheta – one of the oldest cities and the capital of the Early Georgian Kingdom of Iberia from the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD. Visiting Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (IV c. AD / XI c.) – iconic cathedral first built in the 4th century after Georgia was converted to Christianity. Visiting another significant attraction Jvari Monastery (VI c.) located on the rocky mountaintop and boasting a stunning view on the confluence of the rivers Mtkvari and Aragvi and the town of Mtskheta. Both monuments are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Back to Tbilisi. Overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast departure to Kakheti – one of the most popular wine regions also called “The Cradle of Wine”. Georgia is presumed to be one of the oldest wine-making regions with its unique 8000 years unique method of wine production included in UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Kakheti region preserves all ancient traditions of wine-making and offers wide variety of different sorts of local wine.
Arrive to Telavi – the administrative centre of Kakheti located at 490 m. above sea level. Visiting the main attractions of the area: Alaverdi Cathedral (XI c.) and Ikalto Monastery (Vi c.) –one of the most significant cultural-scholastic centres of Georgia, where according to the legend famous Georgian poet of the 12th century Shota Rustaveli studied.
