Black Rock Lake

Arrival at Tbilisi International Airport. Transfer to the hotel in Lagodekhi region. Dinner. Short instruction for Trekking.
Early breakfast. Route: administrative centre to the tourist shelter. Total distance – 11.5 km. Lunch – backpacking food.
On the route, we will have the possibility to explore a wide variety of rare and area-specific plants, untouched beech stands and forests. Some of the plants are included in the Red List. In an hour we go up the hill 1,300 m above sea level and go along Kochalo hill, where we can observe beech forest on the north and mixed, broad-leaved forest on the south-east. Only in two hours after the start, you will appear in a sub-alpine zone – high hill, shallow maple stands. Arrival at the tourist shelter Meteo located at 1,350 m. above sea level. Picnic and camping sites are specially arranged along the area. Overnight at the tourist shelter.

Continue our route to Kochalo hill. Going up to the upper alpine, where we can observe rare ungulate animals such as deer, chamois and wild goat; as well as birds such as grouse, Caucasian snowcocks, bearded and various eagles. Explore the so-called Demidovi ruins, which are famous for a fiefdom of goats and discovering relatively flat alpine meadows. Later, we come across little lakes and wetlands embroidered by the magic of nature from the glacial age. Approaching the main attraction – Black Rock Lake distinguished with a pristine natural setting and rare species of animals. It is worth to mention that Black Rock Lake represents a natural border between Georgia and Daghestan (Russian Federation). Dinner and overnight at the tourist shelter.

Located on a steep hill, the town overlooks Alazani Valley and faces the Caucasus Mountains. Sighnaghi is distinguished with its beautiful architecture, picturesque landscapes, pastel houses, and narrow, cobblestone streets. Being a popular wedding destination it is also called “the City of Love”. Visiting Bodbe Monastery – one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia due to its association with St. Nino, the 4th-century evangelist of Georgians, whose relics are shrined there. Back to Tbilisi. Transfer to the airport. Departure.
