After breakfast explore the highlights of Batumi. During the city tour, you will walk around the stunning seaside park – Batumi Boulevard (1881) featuring various gardens, a huge collection of plants, a variety of art installations and sculptures, promenade and cafes. Among other works of art, Batumi Boulevard is home to famous moving sculpture “Ali and Nino” – telling a tragic love story of a Georgian princess and Azerbaijani Muslim man, and Alphabet Tower – the only monument dedicated to Georgian unique alphabet. Other attractions include Old Batumi beautiful narrow streets, Batumi Piazza – beautiful square of Italian Architecture, Batumi Sea Port, Batumi Dolphinarium and Europe Square with the iconic sculpture of Medea of Colchis. Visiting Khariton Akhvlediani State Museum and explore 169108 pieces of art, paintings, sculptures, jewelry, arms, manuscripts.
Visiting Batumi Botanical Garden, one of the biggest and richest gardens in Europe. Stretched over 111 hectares the garden comprises nine floristic departments and is home to plants from all over the world. Beautiful scenery and stunning sea views make it one of the most popular attractions all year round. Lunch at the Georgian traditional restaurant, where you will have a possibility to taste popular Georgian dish – delicious Ajarian Khachapuri – a boat-shaped bread with cheese and egg inside. Back to the hotel for overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Gonio Fortress located within 15 km. distance from Batumi close to the Turkish border. This ancient fortress with the oldest reference in I c. AD was a strategically important Roman city with its hippodrome and theatre in II c. AD. Later it came through Byzantine and Ottoman influences. The local museum preserves a rich collection of valuable artifacts discovered during numerous excavations. Visiting ethnographic museum ‘Borjgalo’ with an interesting collection of household artifacts from mountainous Ajara.
Departure to Keda – mountainous area historically associated with wine production. Visiting the local attractions: the waterfall and the arched bridge built during the reign of King Tamar (XII c.). The total number of similar bridges is unknown, but among 25 similar bridges, only a few survived. Keda region is home to two rare grape breeds: Tsolikauri and Chkhaveri. Visiting the local family wine cellar at Mirveti, where the host will reveal the secrets of Georgian wine-making and offer different sorts of homemade wine for tasting. Visiting the beautiful path and waterfall of Mirveti and enjoy the picturesque setting. Back to Batumi.
After breakfast departure to Mtirala National Park – one of the rarest and most diverse natural reserves of Georgia. Завтрак в отеле. Located 1760 m. above sea level, the park is stretched on the territory of 15698 hectares. The territory features a beautiful lake and the waterfall, where we will stop for a picnic. The park offers a variety of entertainment activities, including the zip-line and also hosts a variety of exhibitions and small markets for bioproducts. The park was given the name “Mtirala” (literally meaning “crying”) because the place is considered to be the most humid place in Europe. Back to Batumi for overnight.
